I wasn't able to find my results and I am sure there were a many many more than 424 people who took part in the 10km run. It seems that only the lucky few who were give a ChampionChip chip had their times recorded. On the 'Registration' page of the Beirut Marathon website it says "With your registration fee, you get the full BBM 07 packet which includes: ...ChampionChip for the event..." and also "Registration for any race include a timing chip" but that simply wasn't true. When I collected my number from ABC, I asked for my chip and was told they were not being given to people doing the 10km run. Perhaps someone from BMA could expalin why only a few people who entered the 10km race were given a timing chip whereas the website said everyone would get one.

beirut marathon 2003 =
10Km has 2617 participants with time
Marathon has 846
Wheelchair marathon has 26
MiniMarathon has 1001
Total participants timed in 2003 was 4,490

beirut marathon 2007 =
10Km has 424
marathon has 240
Wheelchair marathon has 0
MiniMarathon has 161
Total participants timed in 2007 was 825

exactly how is this race getting better?
and in 2007 many many of the times have no names and no race numbers this is to not professional.
we want things to get better for the race and not for making big advertising for private people

all they say on the website selwyn is to trick you and they cheat with saying 18000 people are running. maybe they dont want to pay for these chips for all keep the money?

look what i found; http://www.marathonguide.com/races/racedetails.cfm?MIDD=1984071118
"I have run 120 marathons and 100-KM races so far, and I have never seen such a thing; it is SHAMEFUL! ... I managed through till the end in one of my most difficult marathons. This is not sport."

or

"I had great expectations of this marathon, and I am dissappointed to say that I had the worst running experience of my life...I will more than likely never run this race again..."

interesting how the comments used to be positive on the race and and have got more and more worse.

what do you say bma?

Ramzeh...
thanks for your comments... If you are residing in Beirut I think it would be great if you would pass to the office and spend some time with me to discuss your thoughts and feedback... the more negative posts that you place on the blog will not make your experience any better... only through positive contribution can things improve... so please come over and let's discuss together. Alternatively, please email me on md@beirutmarathon.org

Dear Ramzeh...
I havent heard from you anymore... Anyway, for your info...
We have just ordered 24,000 chips for 2008 marathon and we have done it now, far ahead of the rush of preparing for the race. So they will sit here in our store until the bib pick up!

having how many thousand chips didn't mean you have a good timing and good results. it means only you have many chips.

problem is not bma having chips it is not all runners are getting chips and your timing machines and people not working correct to get timing results.

again u are timing the peace marathon last sunday and i look on your website and i look on the championship website and no results are here. so why have the chips?
