Well, over 10,000 people ran in Zahle, with 250 in the half marathon and the rest in the 5k fun run... it was an amazing day.. with rain (again!!!) and sunshine too... everyone had a great time... more than that, we had two of the world's greatest athletes there... from Ethiopea... Asnake Fekadu and Shitaye Gemechu, wondeful to see them run..
Now, off to London for the Flora London Marathon... I am hoping for a time of four hours and twenty minutes.. anyone want to sponsor??? I am going to give the money to charity.. just let me know!
I feel ready, but a bit nervous...

Your blog entry says "over 10,000" ran in Zahle. Your official results page (www.championchiplebanon.com) gives results for only 361 participants. Does this mean that from over 10,000 claimed registered runners only 361 actually made it to the finish line of the 5k/half marathon? This is only 3.6% finish rate - this either means your timing people didn't do their job or 95%+ people didn't wear a chip or---what? Why have timing if not everyone is timed - this does not produce race results, only individual results which is meaningless to anyone else.
Hey... thanks for the comment... yes, the reason that you have seen this difference is that all of the people in the 21k automatically get a chip and their results are recorded in championchip. Our timing people actually did their job very well and so far we have had only one error that was reported, which was a women who had been registered as a male participant.
The runners in the 5k may choose championchip as an option for about $5 per person and very few wish to pay for the privilege. We dont provide championchip included in the registration of the 5k as they are only paying $2 per person to enter the run, which doesnt even cover the cost of the t-shirt and the medal that we give.
Finally, the federation results rule over the championchip results and all of the official winners are verified by the federation. The purpose of the championchip has almost always been for the individual to measure his or her own performance.
So, thank you for your technical question and for checking out our Blog...
cheers
Mark
